The Department of Environmental Science is the newest department in the Faculty of Science at Al-Zintan, and the only one at the university specializing in environmental studies. It was first established in 2005 as a branch of the Department of Life Sciences, and later became an independent department in 2007. As of the Fall 2010 semester, the department had 92 male and female students enrolled across various academic levels. The department collaborates with other departments within the faculty, as the educational process in environmental science is closely connected to various scientific disciplines.
